Brian Mc Cracken

Brian was born in December 1952. He is an entirely self taught artist. Since a very early age Brian has always drawn anything and everything. When he left school he became an apprentice sign writer, which involved pictorial art, commercial design and cartooning (all of which have elements of realism and abstraction). Through this he was able to develop his own talents and his imagination. This enabled Brian to be able to do anything in the sign writing trade. For Brian painting has been an obvious progression into the professional art world. Brian started painting seriously in 1980, holding his first solo exhibition in 1982. He has exhibited in many highly successful solo and group exhibitions. In 1987 Brian won third prize in the Royal Overseas League's under 35 competition.

In 2005 he submitted three works to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in London for their Summer Exhibition.
He paints full time and sells his works privately, and in many galleries throughout New Zealand.
Brian's work is in constant demand and his work is held in many private collections both here in New Zealand and overseas.
Brian is inspired by the wide open spaces from around the Canterbury and Otago countryside. This is reflected in the paintings that Brian produces.

His palette tends to be dominated by bright clear blues and a cloudless day, contrasted with shades of yellow and gold, so typical of the dry Canterbury/Otago areas in the summer. Comments have been made to Brian about the way his paintings make you feel as if you are actually there. This is what he intends the viewer to feel.

Fiona Gedson

Fiona works from a unique straw-bale studio in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, within the boundaries of the Whakatohea iwi, from whom her four children descend. Fiona grew up within the presence of the Tuhoe people and these relationships have contributed to her ongoing love and respect for

te toi o o tatau tipuna – the art of our forbearers.

Her childhood, her environment, the Maori women who taught her to weave and her precious family ties are all expressed in her art, in a unique mix of traditional skills and contemporary vision.

Fiona's work has been exhibited widely through out New Zealand and in Los Angeles, France and Japan. Her work is held in many overseas collections.

“I enjoy the structural process of weaving; it satisfies my need to create and allows me expression. My work brings a welcome balance to my life as a woman, wife and mother.”

Colin Clarke

Colin Clarke is an Auckland artist well known for his whimsical paintings of New Zealand landscapes and for his dancing figures.

He paints in acrylics and is a colourist who approaches a painting not only for it's content but also for the style and colours he sees in the subject.

As probably New Zealands most published author of spy/adventure /thrillers with four novels published in the United Kingdom, Colin continues to write on a regular basis in both novel form as well as being a monthly contributor to a french website satirical magazine which has a wide circulation in France and other European countries.

He recently published his own children's book “Freddie the Famous Farter” which received extremely good reviews in the New Zealand Herald and other New Zealand newspapers and has sold well since it's release. He created “Freddie” for his own children when they were young and put it on paper as a consequence of his daughter saying that she wanted to read it to her children when she had them. (she now has a daughter of her own)

Colin embarked on painting a series of South Island landscapes that are easily recognisable as New Zealand icons although not painted in their real form. He enjoys blending the colours found in all the seasons in shapes that are sensuous and out of the ordinary but still very much a part of the country.
