Dan CampionDan would define his formal practice as mixed media, the material perhaps most central to this would be resin. Having majored in glass casting for his Fine Arts Degree in 2000, Dan adapted the techniques learnt to a professional sculpture practice that utilized resin in place of glass. Along side this he has developed painting methods that like wise use resins as a primary medium. Working with resin provides a unique set of challenges- perhaps most importantly it creates a methodology to working in layers- governed by curing times. Some of the larger works have as many as thirty layers, and being as a layer takes a day to cure- works are often protracted over an extended time period. Dan likes how this has the result of slowing the practice down- creating a system of contemplation. |
