The new space where New Zealand contemporary and uber art meet

Artbay Gallery is a warm, inviting space on the first floor of the delightfully restored historic Mountaineer building in the heart of vibrant Queenstown, New Zealand.

We showcase modern, contemporary, uber, beautiful, interesting and challenging artworks by emerging and established New Zealand artists and sculptors. Owner Pauline Bianchi, gets a particular thrill out of identifying rising artistic talent who will move to the next realm in the art world, and become the next Hotere or McCohan.

The gallery was inspired by a recent trip to New York, particularly the Manhattan galleries, and the gallery design is best described as "semi-industrial chic". It has a warm welcome feeling, with friendly informative service, in a space where you can look at art without feeling intimidated or pressured. Artbay Gallery is ‘new school’ rather than ‘old school’ gallery in the art scene – Artbay is art without the snob factor.

Artbay Gallery is a cultural destination, with regular art exhibitions and open evenings. Some of Artbay’s artists will be using part of the gallery as studio space, from time to time, so you can come and see the artists at work and talk to them as they do so.

We are the first gallery in Queenstown to introduce an arts educational programme, with an experienced art lecturer giving art talks on various art subjects, such as an introduction to art appreciation, art investment, and talks on various New Zealand artists, one evening per month.

We offer this to the community at no charge, as our contribution to the arts and our local community. Spaces will be limited, so booking are essential. We are also looking at holding art classes in the near future.

If you visit us after 4pm, you may find you'll be offered a glass of wine while you peruse the artwork, so you can take your time, relax and enjoy your visit to our gallery as an ‘art experience’.

Previous to the gallery opening, Artbay operated from its ARTHOUSE in Queenstown’s Goldfield Heights for six years, where we had a steady client base of interior designers, developers and hotel groups. We've assisted our clients in various ways, such as sourcing artwork to a clients' brief, put together private art collections for homes, and arranged special one-off commissions by some of New Zealand’s top artists.

On a commercial level, we've take on entire projects, such as fitting out hotels, apartment blocks and luxury lodges. We get involved at the concept stage of your project, and follow it right through to installation, and we'll be continuing to offer this service. We've also curated the art shows at the renowned Amisfield Winery for the past two years, and will continue to do so.

Our vision, as a gallery, is to offer not only modern contemporary art for sale, but offering our space as a friendly cultural destination, with an overall vision of offering our guests an ‘art experience’. Enjoy !
