I have been printing in the medium of woodblock print since 1999 initially printing by hand from a shed at home and currently in a central Dunedin print studio with other printmakers of various techniques sharing experience and ideas amongst ourselves and any who wish to visit.

I work mainly from drawings done in situe enjoying the chance this gives of making a connection with and instantly responding to the subject, be it a person, animal, landscape or building, endeavoring to expand on this experience I work directly from drawing to print carving away wood and adding layers of ink. I enjoy the nature of woodcut as a medium which can be at once controlled and yield exciting surprises in the final print, which has the physical nature of carving the block connected to the gentle layering of coloured ink, the deepness of black blocks of ink and the sharpness of line which can be achieved.
