Anne Reithmaier
Artist Profile:
Anne Reithmaier
Anne Reithmaier’s new collection ‘Tri-Colour’ explores colour in the abstract and plays with the geometry of triangles. Forms and formats are manipulated in the ‘eye candy’ colours as they make the transition from one colour and shape to another. Patterns evolve in colour geometrics to tease the viewer's visual flexibility. Her precise geometric forms present with a smooth surface. This modern medium helps emphasise colour and form relationships. Every interacting colour is meditated and thoughtfully placed.
Anne has spent much of her life on the North Shore, where she still resides. She completed her Secondary Education at Rangitoto College and graduated with her BFA from Elam School of Fine Arts, the University of Auckland in 1992. To increase her knowledge of the IB programme, she completed her Diploma in the Visual Arts in 2003, achieving an outstanding result of 7. She went onto complete her Master of Fine Arts from Massey University, Wellington in 2008.
Anne works professionally, exhibiting regularly alongside her commitment to Kristin School, in Albany, where she teaches Art part-time.
“Colour has so much to do with my life. My work is to do with the measurement of balance. It is to do with the surface and the beauty of the pigment. It is to do with feeling and space and light and overlays. It is to do with how the viewer can be involved in the art of looking”
