Tracey Keller’s artistic career started with a bang in 1999 when her debut solo show sold out. Working with an aesthetic that varies from hyperrealism to her own brand of quirky impressionism, she creates comic and endearing portraits of animals.
Born, raised and based in Queensland, Australia, Keller is a passionate adventurer and nature enthusiast. She works in an idyllic location in the mountains, ten minutes away from the Noosa surf in Eumundi. This varied landscape and its inhabitants inform and inspire her work.
Tracey’s works are colourful and light-hearted, her style has been embraced across Australia as well as being acquired by collectors from Japan, France, Scotland, UK, USA, Dubai, New York, Germany, Zurich and South Africa.
She’s been featured in art fairs and shows around the world, from the Singapore Art Fair to New York’s premier contemporary art show, Art Hamptons New York. The widespread popularity of Tracey’s work across Australia even led to four of her designs featuring on the wine labels of Wine Master Andrew Corrigan’s limited edition series.
Tracey creates her kaleidoscopic animal paintings with thick layers of paint and pieces of hessian and metal. Her latest works are also mixed media and combine metals, woods, paint, charcoal, oils, metals, fabrics and feathers to create mischievous and enjoyable characters.
A children’s book created in collaboration with author Katrina Logan, ‘A Fish With A Wish’ was published in 2011 featuring Tracey’s bright and quirky artwork.
“I paint to create JOY,” says Tracey.
