This canvas work is a visual narrative that incorporates Te reo Māori treaty phone text (trea-t ph txt) verbatim.

Symbolic references include kowhaiwhai patterns (tenacity and strength), waka (the people) tiki mouth for the mantle of faith in the treaty. God rays of light cast out from the background pushing and pulling tension on the canvas surface.

The work encapsulates a part of New Zealand's founding document- Te Tiriti o Waitangi, article one and is intended as a reminder of the foundation upon which fairness, equality and the protection of rights for people of New Zealand are guaranteed.
