Ariosto Rivera
Ariosto Rivera is a contemporary Mexican artist duo formed by Jesús Rivera and Joaquín Ariosto. Working under a shared artistic identity, the pair create highly detailed works that reinterpret popotillo, an ancestral Mexican technique using finely cut and dyed plant fibres, meticulously placed by hand to build intricate, light-reflective surfaces rich in texture and depth.
Drawing on Mexican folklore, symbolism and cultural memory, their work explores themes of identity and mythology through vibrant colour and refined craftsmanship.
Established in 2016, Ariosto Rivera represents a commitment to preserving and evolving this rare traditional practice within a contemporary context.
