Kate Moss and Haute Couture: Exhibition La Femme

Kate Moss and Haute Couture: Exhibition La Femme

Dunedin-born artist Suzy Platt is exhibiting a series of her fashion inspired works in Artbay Gallery this July. The artist was head-hunted earlier this year by renowned British fashion photographer Nick Knight to illustrate the Women’s Haute Couture shows in Paris.

"It was a return to fashion for me as I studied fashion when I first left school,” says Suzy.

“The theatricality and allure of the shows invigorated my interest in the flamboyance and drama of the fashion world and this show, Femme, is a continuation of my journey into the exploration of fashion and the mystique of the subjects who live in this realm.”

Suzy was also one of few artists handpicked by Nick Knight to paint fashion icon Kate Moss. Her artwork entitled ‘Blumarine’ was included in ‘Moving Kate’, a retrospective show about the model held in Tokyo.

Creating from her studio in Dunedin, Suzy has exhibited locally and internationally for more than 20 years. Her unique art can be found in private collections around the world and has been acquired by investment groups and local admirers alike.

La Femme showcases some of Suzy’s latest works, they are typical of her hallmark style; primarily images of youthful girls, they are full of both pathos and joy. Suzy explores light and shadow in her work and contrasts strong masses and delicate lines.

The works are created in oil, gouache or mixed media on paper and measure 420x593mm framed. They are all framed in U.V. glass and available for purchase.

La Femme will be held in the front room of Artbay Gallery (13 Marine Parade, Queenstown) from 7th - 26th July 2017. This exhibition will appeal to those who love the vibrancy and mystery of high fashion, as well as fans of Suzy’s other works.

All artworks will be available for purchase and you can see how the artworks might look on your wall using our app
